hey
can anyone help i tired searching for this but not much good i cant open word because there isnt enough memory can anyone tell me how to get some more memory available on my machine i am running vista

internet explorer is the largest running and its 123,792K then teatimer.exe at 22,892K

any help would be great thanks

Unfortunately Vista takes up an obscene amount of memory just sitting there, never mind doing anything else.
Realistically the minimum amount of memory you should run Vista with is 2Gb. Unfortunately it involves actually purchasing some and putting it in your computer.

This is pretty common misstatement.
Vista uses memory in totally different way, than previous Windows version.
In simple terms, Vista's philosophy is: any unused portion of RAM, is a wasted RAM
Here are two screenshots of Task Manager from two similar systems. 1st one with Vista, 2nd one with XP:

Notice 6MB free RAM in Vista case, and 1.5GB available/free in XP (for Vista, that 1.5 is "wasted" RAM)

if that is the case, vista regards it as wasted RAM. how can i get more memory available at present i cant even open word.
its using 900mb of memory at present

To run Vista well, you need 2GB of RAM.
