new laptop suddnly going slow, do i have a virus?

i have a new laptop, it was running fine apart from the odd problem like when i click "remember password" it dosent remember it.
but for the past couple of days its been running really slow! im stuck as to why!

its a HP Pavillion DV5 laptop, its a package laptop so its full of loads of HP programs and stuff thats not needed as well...

can any one help me please
