
where can i get linux

can someone tell me where i can get linux on a cd or some sort so that when i get done building my computer i can have that as the operating system

Have you decided what flavor of linux you would like to run?
If new to linux I would recommend Ubuntu. But here is a few you might try.

Hi,
For most Linux distributions, you can get them free of charge. You would need to download them yourself though. After that, burn them to a CD or DVD (depending on big the ISO file is)
The rest of the steps will be similar to installing Windows if you are familiar with installing Windows.
If you have a slow connection, you may be interested at ShipIt.
Both Ubuntu and Kubuntu offer to ship them free of charge to you (no shipping charges incurred)
