I am new to this forum as of about 3 mins ago. But I have been searching the web like crazy trying to find an answer.
I upgraded windows ME to windows XP professional. Everything runs fine, monitor, keyboard, mouse, drivers etc.
The problem I'm having is after logging into windows, and the desktop should come up I get an error say that WINDOWS EXPLORER.EXE needs to shutdown. My desktop only has a black screen. I try to manually open exporer.exe through task manager and I get the same error. I have tried system restore, it restored but didn't fix the problem. Here is my HI JACK THIS log:

I know that I may have some spyware..because I get POP UPS galore. I have run Microsoft Antispyware program, Adaware 6, spybot, cwshredder, PC Bug Doctor, Mcaffe virus scan, Bazooka, Spywareblaster, Super Ad Blocker and Xoft Spy, but still spyware is present. I don't think that the explorer.exe problem is spyware related, but I don't know much that's why I'm here. Can anyone help? And just for the record I am only moderately computer literate. THANKS BUNCHIES

Howdy and welcome to G2G:

You are infected with malware

Please go to the malware forum in my signature and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty, then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
