Hi, I have an IBM - ThinkPad - T42 - Model 2374 LapTop. I recently re-installed Windows XP and it appears that there is a bunch of drivers missing? Particularly, when going to Device Manager, there is no "Network Adaptor" icon anywhere?!? It reads the following...
Under mouse and other pointing devices

? Other devices
? Multimedia Audio Controller
? Network Controller
? PCI Modem
? SM Bus Controller
? Unknown Device
? Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

Ok, I get it I need the drivers (I think) but when I go to the Lenovo website and down load the (again I think) right drivers, NOTHING. I don't know what to do.

Can somoe eone help or has this happened to anyone??

It is Normal for these drivers to be missing after an XP install.
Did you install the drivers?

List the names of the drivers you downloaded.
example: 7ira09ww.exe Intel PRO/1000 LAN adapter software

The instructions to install the driver are on the same page you downloaded them from.

This link has the install instructions for your lan adapter. http://www-307.ibm.c...MIGR-62922.html

In the Contents section: Install instructions.

Well, here's the problem. After installing all these drivers for network connections from the IBM website, in the device manager list there is NEVER A NETWORK ADAPTOR ICON THAT APPEARS? Its always the little yellow question mark, this is retoricale, part of the download instructions is to click on network adaptor but there isn't one???

whats the deal here? What am I missing?

If you are still seeing this.

? Other devices
? Multimedia Audio Controller
? Network Controller
? PCI Modem
? SM Bus Controller
? Unknown Device
? Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

The drivers have not been installed.
Right click on ?Network controller , click on update drivers.
The Hardware update wizard will appear, click on the radio button that says, No not this time, click next.
Click on the radio button that says, install from a list or specific location. (Advanced)
Uncheck, search removeable media. Check, include this location in your search.
Browse to the location, where you put the downloaded drivers.
The update wizard will create a restore point for you. Then install your drivers.
