windows media player on xp

my windows media player will not burn cds. It goes thru the whole process till the end. then it says there is something wrong with the cd i am trying to burn onto - make sure it is clean and maybe use a different brand or change the burn speed. -- well needless to say i have tried all this - nothing helps -- so i hope you guys can.
