My pc seemed to be working fine, until I recently tried to boot it up and as it logs into windows it says there is a viewmgr error and after about 30 seconds dumps me back into the login screen, the desktop wallpaper is visible, but nothing else works before it kicks me back to the login screen. I did some research and everyone says that to get rid of this you need to get rid of certain files, but I cannot even log into windows to do so. I tried to log into safe mode, and I get the exact same message and then it dumps me back into the login screen. I'm not sure the first steps I should take in tackling this problem, normally I would just factory restore the pc, but I need an extremely important tax document that is saved to the hard drive so that is not an option for me. Pc is a dell latitude 120L running Win xp service pack 2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
