hi, im not sure if this is the right place as im new to these forums and i dont normally use forums im very sorry if this is in the wrong place and causes inconvenience but im despirate.

my problem:

i play a game called runescape my clan uses a irc server built onto swift kit a downloaded tool.

on irc i got a personal message from what i thought was a friend (someone using his nickname on irc) a imageshack link saying that he had killed a famous person on the game and it was a screenshot of the kill message so i opened the link like hundreds of other imageshack links i open threw irc alot of people who play runescape use screenshots as trophies of there kills so opening imageshack/tinypic links are frequent i have never had any problems before.

i open the link and it doesnt work so i exit the window and right back to what i thought was my frend "doesnt work mate reupload it" i got not reply

10 mins later a clan rushes my clan on the game and my computer becomes jittery/laggy and i get a connection lost message and my internet has been pinged out. i reconnect my internet after 20 minutes and i have lost all my stuff on the game. i didnt think anything of it the next day (today) i see a kid from the rival clan and same thing happens again.

my frends told me he is either DDOS or DOS attacking me or maybe a irc botnet im not sure which one but my internet gets pinged out and disconnects. i dont know what sort of internet connection i have other then it is called belkin54g i dont know if it is dynamic or not all i know is i keep getting internet blocked and its annoying and ive been told its illegal to do.

i need help resetting my i.p adress so this cant happen and i want to know how i can report and maybe prosecute the kid doing it i know his irc nickname and have proof that he has sent me links and i have conversations of him admitting it and laughing also there is a video on youtube of him doing it to about 20 other playes on runescape that he has recorded with hypercam and uploaded. he also owns a irc channel called #dcu where the topic is we disconnect u "live bye the botnet die bye the bot net" DDOS till we die. if that isnt enough proof then i dont know what is.

please help me.

if my i.p doesnt change bye itself i need to know how i can change it without contacting my service provider i tried that and i get put on hold and i went into a computer shop on my local high street and they tried selling me anti virus when that cleerly isnt going to help obviously trying to get money out of me. :)

Hey pontrayvoo -- welcome to G2G :)

It's possible that the link he gave you downloaded malicious software onto your machine; for this reason I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE thread. These self-help tools will allow you to clean up to 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after performing these steps, then please follow Step Five: Rootkit Detection and Step Six: Post an OTListIt2 Log; ensure you post your logs in the Malware Forum. If you are unable to run and/or post any of these logs, then mention that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

In regards to changing your IP, these days it's usually up to your ISP to do this for you. However, you could try the following.
  • Select Start
  • In the Start Search field type cmd -- right-click on the cmd program and choose Run as administrator
  • In the new command prompt window, please type the following commands:
  • ipconfig /release
  • ipconfig /renew
Wait for your IP to release before you type the renew command.
I would strongly suggest that you, and your clan mates, follow the advice outlined in this thread -- Preventing Malware and Safe Computing.
