For those of you who found resetting or anything thing else didn't work. I accidentally found a way. I pressed the start button and the lights still flashed. I pressed the select button and the light still flashed. I pressed both the select and start at the same time and my controller began to work. I hope this helps. PS my controller was plugged in with the usb however I don't think you need it to be plugged in. Good luck!

Hi, just registered with this website to tell you because i had the same problem for ages and just found out the solution.

PS3 controllers have a memory, theres a tiny hole in the back of the controller which is a reset button. stick a paperclip in or something and then turn on ps3, put the usb in and press the ps button. should sync straight away

This method works -100%. I had the same prob, but then I called to master.. He came and laughed instead to tell me this by phone;| Thanks for the forum, a lot of useful information.

I read a bunch of the cries for help and majority of solutions for why my PS3 controllers refused to communicate with my game station.

The little button on the back got reset: didnt fix the problem.

Went and got the long recharger cable and plugged in the controller; controller worked! (yay)

Then I went into the PS3 [Accessories] settings  for calibration and then unplugged the PS controller from the cord and hold down X

I am fully wireless again.

I hope this helps.

The blinking slow part is when it is charging. The blinking fast bit is when it is looking for a console with which to connect. As mentioned before, stick a paperclip in the hole on the back of the controller to reset it. Then, turn on your PS4, connect the controller via the USB, and finally press the PS button on the control to sync and connect.
