I just got a new Motherboard with built in Sound. When I am using my speakers I heard a lot of noise in the background. I was almost sure I would have to send my Motherboard back. I experimented with a few settings, and if I go into the sound properties and select the Properties of Speakers, there is a levels tab. If I disable PC Beep the noise goes completely away.

My Question is:
Is the problem solved or should I still consider the Audio in the Motherboard to be faulty? What is PC Beep? I Still get windows beeps, so it is confusing. Thanks,

-Matt

Windows beeps are not needed. They just alert you when you do not have any sound coming from speakers. You can disable PC beep if you want quieter sound!

Hardware beep warning will not be disabled. Only Windows beeps will be disabled. It should not be a worry at all.

The Windows beeps are a concentration of, for example, if Windows was to freeze, and you tried to click somewhere, it would beep at you to tell you there is an issue. It is obvious when it freezes there is an issue.

So all in all it seems that there is no problem disabling this sound. And I shouldn't worry about this being a hardware issue. Thanks,

Absolutely.

The POST beeps (ones you hear at start up) are automatic and cannot be disabled. The beeps at boot are always on.

This is fully similar to how Ubuntu and Kubuntu works.
