Hi....I recently ran my Recovery CDs on my Sony Vaio and now when I turn on the computer it takes 25 minutes to get to the XP log on. ONce the power button is depressed, the Sony logo pops up, then the Intel Logo, then Windows XP startup, then a black screen for 25 minutes before the log on screen for the different users.

I recently had a virus and used the recovery media kit to wipe and recover the pc. What could be causing this looooooooong delay at startup? Thanks!

25 minutes? I'd say a bad install

Given this was recent, I think I would reimage.

Thanks Gerry --

This is the second time I've run the Recovery CDs, and I've even run the recovery without the CD's (F-10?)....

I'm getting so frustrated....any suggestions are most welcome!

Not sure where to (re)start! :tazz:

Any red Xs in the system tab? Sounds like BAD BLOCK maybe.

Also, reboot in safe mode...how long does that take?
