I keep receiving the following error message: "The computer must be restarted before updating can continue. Do you want to restart now? YES or NO"
I always select no because this happens after I have already restarted the computer.
How do I stop this message from occurring?

Try selecting "Yes" and allowing it to reboot. This will usually (but not always) fix it.

If it doesn't, then post back for some more suggestions.

I discovered that it was an Adobe update error. After I uninstalled Adobe and reinstalled it, the problem went away.

Thanks for letting us know! How'd you discover it was an Adobe error?

Thanks! FWIW - I just read about a file called PendMoves from SysInternals. It is supposed to tell you what's pending for a reboot - and I'd expect that this would have shown an entry to the Adobe Updater file. Dunno if it'd have helped you, but it's a nice tool for those unexplained requests for a reboot.
