hi ive got bad problem with my laptop running xp on it and it has ati cat centre what problem is when i try to log on to IE7 it starts to load up then just goes back to normal screensaver screen and i keep getting cli .exe error referenced memory 0x00000001 could not be read and it also happens when i try to load up other applications ive tried to restore to early date but it wont work for some reason help please

Lets see what you have in your startup

Please click on
Start and then to Run
Type in msconfig and press Enter
Now click on Startups
Look for any entry that references the cli.exe and uncheck it.

Apply and reboot. When windows restarts you will see the system configuration window popup. Click on the little box at the lower left to not show it again. Try your IE7 and see if the issue still is happening. Reply back with your results.

No didnt work here message that came up even before i clicked on IE7 after laptop botted up onto main screen CLI.exe Application Error the instruction at "0x7c9109d8" referenced memory at "0x00000001" the memory could not be read click on ok to terminate the program

plus another one said Googleupdate.exe application error and same sort of message as above

The cli.exe is related to the catalyst program for the AT card.
It can safely be disabled.

Try this:
Lets see what you have in your startup services area

Please click on
Start and then to Run
Type in msconfig and press Enter
Now click on Services
Click on the Hide All Microsoft Services
Look for anything related to the CLI.EXE and uncheck it
Apply and restart system

cant see any about CLi ???????????/

What I would suggest is Uninstalling All Programs you don't need or don't want anymore through Add/Remove Programs

Do this by going to
Start and then to Control Panel
Click Add/Remove Programs
Carefully choose the program(s) you don't need
Look for anything with the Catalyst program

Yes, If you find that you need it you can reinstall it later. In all actuality by uninstalling it and reinstalling, you may correct the error also.

Don't delete
Uninstall
Deleting will not get rid of all the associated files.

deleted 2 of the ATI but one of them wont let me delete it ATi catalyst control centre as it says the windows installer service could not be accessed this can occur if your running windows in safe mode or if the windows installer is not correctly installed contact your support for [bleep] ??????

Reboot and go into normal mode. Right click on the Catalyst icon in your system tray on the bottom right of Desktop down by the clock.
If there is a Disable option please click it.
Then try IE7.
Update to IE8
Go to Microsoft's windows update site and get all updates
Critical and Optional
