I have Vista running on an HP, and today there is no sound. I am getting a LogonUI.exe-Bad Image error that says c:\windows\system32\avrt.dll is either not designed to runon windows or it contains an error. Updating the driver does not work. Reinstalling the driver does not work. System is free of viruses/spyware/malware. System restore did not correct problem. Any ideas or help is much appreciated!

Hi there :) Welcome to GeeksToGo!

Have you tried searching your harddrive for other versions of the driver? Use Vista's search program and copy the file into C:\Windows\system32\ . See if that helps

Also, try reinstalling WMP11 with the version made specifically for Vista:

Thanks for the suggestions, but nothing worked except a restore back to factory settings.
