Windows 7 - fresh install, but lockups and crashes

Hello,
I have same issue, no matter what I do, windows 7 stops responding randomly after a few minutes.
Even after a recent latest windows 7 build install today.
It can't be hardware, because XP runs fine and 6xxx build of 7 did that too...
My MB is Asus P5K.
Maybe it has something to do with drivers? I really want to play games in DX10, so if anyone has any ideas, please tell me.
