acctually the windows 7 install takes a load of time to install using a old dvd player some acctually stop the install as well.
Just give it time.
Before I updated my DVD player the install took about 3-4 hours.
Its just a reading thing.
it also has to collect data on your computer and how long everything will take will vairy on the speed of your computer and your computer parts.
=3
Enjoy.

Oh right nice job
Just so I know for next time how did you figure it out/come to the conclusion it was the HD Controller?

t was a matter of trial and error and excluding some things....i put my hard drive into another pc and windows loaded perfectly wasnt slow or sluggish installed windows 7 in 20 minutes..Then i thought it could have been the graphics card so i pulled that out and it was still really slow. i knew it was not ram because it was brand new so it had to be motherboard... So i took it to a computer tech we did some tests and it was hd controller. Process of elimination
