Weird like heartbeat sound coming out of my laptop =S?

Hello ppl, I would like to know if this is a problem or something :S...

I recently noticed that my laptop is making a weirds sound... like a heartbeating "tap tap, tap tap, tap tap" and when I mute the laptop just stops but why is this happening?

is this because my battery doesnt work anymore? (need to have the AC power connected always)\

EDIT: Nevermind.. it just stop beeping after i restarted windows D:

All Joking aside, though.
I just thought I'd give a bit more in-depth into this issue.

It sounds like it was just a simple sound file running in the background that you didn't notice.
Chances are, that it was your web-browser that loaded some kind of advert that had this heartbeat sound you described.

I would say keep it in the back of your mind next time you hear a sound that goes away when you mute the laptop
