It's not so much the actual scanning as it is the program being used.

Norton
McAfee
CA
These are all resource hog programs.
They can and will slow your system down even when you are not doing a scan.
The free programs we here at GTG recommend are just as good and in most cases better then the above.
They are very easy on the resources and thus will not add to slowdown you may be experiencing.

How is your system running now after all the steps and hopefully uninstalling AVG?

Only problem is that a few months ago I bought Kaspersky for 2 years, so have not got rid of it yet.

However my system is working very fast now, as I do the full scan when I am not using my comp..

Nice to hear the systems back to normal


Kaspersky will do it's job seeing as though you have it but will give some slight system lag but nothing to bad.
