Hello. I've got Windows Vista Home edition. I'm running the computer in safe mode now because if I start in normal mode the computer does start but it freezes. The antivirus is inactive and nothing reacts if I click it. Can you give me a solution for that please?

No nothing. It was fine when I switched it off last night. The problem started when I switched it on today.

hmm.
*ponders this for a bit*

Sounds like it is having trouble accessing the OS.
You sure you didn't download anything?

Go to any suspicious websites lately?
Ect ect?

Try going into the bio's and changing how the hard drive is read.
IDE or AHCI try changing them and see what that does.

I suggest you go to the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post the reguested logs in THAT forum. If you are unable to run any of the tools then start a new topic in the malware forum and put this in the subject line...I am unable to run any malware tools

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

I suggest you follow through by posting in the Malware Forum and allowing the techs there to go through your logs and do some deeper scans.
Virus's can hide as legit programs and can cause havoc later if not taken care of.
It's just a peace of mind issue that I would have if it was my system. -----
