First off...my first post and I hope I am posting in the proper forum. I want to get rid of the junk ads on my computer. I just had my hard drive replaced (under warranty) and they are all on there, just as if it were a brand new computer. I have no clue as to what I can safley remove. The sad part of this is that I paid Best Buy to perform this when I first got my computer. Even though its under warranty they are asking for money to perform this again. I can not afford this right now, as Im like the rest of the US, its tough times. ANY help would be appreciciated. (I do know how to ad remove programs in the control panel, I just dont know what I can remove)

I had to reply to this post because the subject cracked me up. Anyway, Best Buy sucks for leaving all those craplets on your computer. They suck for numerous reasons.
There isn't very much stuff on your computer that is entirely unsafe to uninstall--the main thing is to leave alone any drivers (that is, as a rule, anything that has the name of a physical piece of hardware in your computer).
If you'd like you can send me a screen capture of your "Programs and Features" control panel and I will let you know what is safe to get ride of and what is not -- or I could log on through Remote Assistance.

I hope this helps.

Let me guess - it is an HP computer. HP is notorious for cramming the system with adware. If you are not sure what can safely be removed, send a screen capture of your Add/Remove Programs (your profile says you are running XP) to Jacobt.
There is a free utility designed for this specific purpose - The PC Decrapifier.

My computer is basically new, they put in a new hard drive but its way too slow and I dont know why. Maybe after all of my updates I performed it will be better.
