What a good virus program that takes care of virus's, worms, troja

I know this may be a most asked question....but here go's.

I know that I have virus and all that other nasty stuff on my laptop. They don't stop my computer from starting or opening any programs for that matter (Except for McAfee Total Protection.) But I still want to get them off of my laptop.

Virus Protectors I've tried but didn't help remove most of them are:

Avira
AVG
Norton

McAfee is the one I liked the most but it seems to not want to work on my labtop. And people claim it slows down your computer.

So, anyone have any good Virus Protectors.
