I have this html program which uses ActiveX to overwrite C:\boot.ini apparently this is activated when Save As is used. I had a folder on my computer that had mostly .txt files in it. On Oct. 6th I received a word doc I was given on a flash drive that was acting strangely after I made minor changes to it so I used Save As to rename it. That action was my undoing, my HP laptop has not been the same since. The word file was saved to the folder (name.txt) but everything else that was in that same folder is now missing - there's a note that says the link location has been changed or moved on all the other info contained in that folder, except the one saved on October 6th.

Is there a fix for this? I have run AVAST-home (some viruses were found and removed). I had One-care running on my laptop at the time this situation occurred. I also used EST Online Scanner and other viruses were found and removed but nothing seem to be able to get rid of this trojan downloader.vbs.agent.fj

Do I need to give the laptop to a IT technician to recover this folder and what it contains?
