Router Broken?

I've been having this problem over the year now. My connection sometimes become very slow and sometimes fast.
I tried to connect to my router set up which is - I changed the channel couple times but it doesn't work very well =(
Then I put the channel and ACE to Auto. It still didn't work. So I decided to tick a setting combination by putting the channel in Auto and ACE to disabled. Then WOW IT FIXED!! HALLELLUYAA!!
so My question is, Is my router broken? What is ACE?
I googled ACE but I couldn't understand what it meant.
