I think I had a virus on my pc - pc was running very slow, unable to install antivirus software, and getting 10's of porn emails every day but have never been on a porn site! This is a particular problem, as it is often necessary for my 11 year old son to check my emails daily before I get home!
I followed your guide to getting rid of malware, and used TFC & Mbam. This obviously worked to some degree as it enabled me to finally complete the installation of AVAST. So I also ran an avast scan - which did not detect anything. I also downloaded spydoctor, but could not install it, because first it wanted to update and the pc wouldn't let it!

But I am still getting the emails - so am I correct to assume that I still have a virus of some kind?

Could you please tell me how to get rid of this - I am concerned about the kind of stuff my son is being exposed to!
My computer knowledge is very limited, and I live in a remote area in the Australian desert, so not able to just drop my pc into a service provider - but it is one of the few links with the outside world!
I am running windows XP on my desktop.
Thanks so much to anyone that can help.
