I've set up a simple Home media player (WDTVLive), connected to an external WD Caviar 1TB drive, which is connected via ethernet wire to my main desktop in the next room.
I have a new Belkin N+ router (w/ gigabit ports), to which I connect my PC, which has a gigabit Lan card on the mobo.
My problem is when moving media files from my desktop over to the external hdd in the next room, my transfer speed maxes out around 130 kb/s. However if I move files from that external drive to my PC, the transfer rate jumps to almost 7Mbits/s !!
Why the huge difference in transfer speeds? To move one of my ripped DVD.iso to the WDLive setup take almost one hour. I contacted Belkin tech support, we tried turning off my A/V (avast), disabling the router firewall, etc,but no joy.
Can anyone think of something that I am doing wrong here. I should think that transfer speeds would more closely match. My OS is Win XP Pro 32 bit SP3.
Thanks for any ideas on how to fix this

jeez..not one response? :)

Switched to a DLink DIR-655 router yesterday. Turned off firewalls on PC & in router, NIC set to 100 full duplex, traffic shaping in router turned off, A/V turned off, still no joy.

Anyone?
