My daughter dropped her Toshiba laptop from about 2.5 feet. After that it ran extremely slow and eventually would hang all the time. I ran chkdsk and some other diagnostics but have not been able to fix the problem. I don't think the HDD was damaged but some file clusters may have been. I reloaded the operating system from the HDD recovery option and then created recovery disks. It boots up and runs faster now but it still gives me error msgs during checkdisk and seems to hang at 10% during the file data check.
The file SmartFaceVHelper.DLL also generates an error msg that states it is corrupt or not intended for Windows Vista.
Any body have any ideas? IShould I wait for the chkdsk to complete regardless of how slow it is advancing? It took an hour to go from 12407 files to 12411 of 91376 files. Now it is hung on 12411.
