let me start by saying, I dont have the install disc (lost it in the divorce!).
I am geting this error - !! oxc0190036 !! 3796/68461. I found a patch, but I have to hook up to the internet to get it-not alot of help, since I can't get on the computer.
i am computer savy-ie...I can do most anything short of programming if I am given directions.
any correction/advise to resolve this? Microsoft says i should buy a new OS and install-guess what-it does not work, because it asks for my original code. I can not reformat because I have too much stuff to lose, and no way to take it off.
HELP! Please. :)

it is not an "error" it hangs up at this load -
it is a black screen and this is what it reads : !!oxc0190036 3796/68461

No, I can not boot up. It hangs up durring the boot sequence.

Follow up question: If I cant get this fixed and I upgrade to windows 7 can I purchase the upgrade or do I need the full version to install past this issue?

that is correct. the screen is black except for that code and it blinks. It looks like it is trying to load and gets hung up.
I wiped the HD and I purchased win7. I will install that today. I should only lose about 7 days worth of data, I back up my files weekly.
Thanks anyway for the help.
