Nope no way to do this as the key you are suggesting is for Vista and not XP.
Second the drivers will probably not work since the disk is not for the laptop originally.
You would first have to purchase a legal copy of XP just for the laptop.
Second before doing anything like this type of downgrade you will need to make sure there are XP drivers for your laptop.
The best way to do this is to go to the manufacturers website and see if there are XP drivers for the model laptop.

i've been looking into buying a new xp professional disc which comes with the product key. so i am looking to put that onto the vista as it's for someone in my family which would find it more easier to use,so would that be possible to install the xp disc onto the vista? i also got this part from the website ..... Can be installed on any PC of any brand (including non-branded computers and laptops). Can also be installed on a MAC using a program like BootCamp or Parallels.
Comes with a media kit containing the installation CD and a product key which can be used to install it on 1 home computer and 1 work computer.Only for personal/ home business use.
so would that mean i could put that on my ordinary xp laptop aswell as my vista? as i says can be put onto 1 work computer and one home computer, only difference is is that mine are both home computers?
thanks for all your help

I can only say that normally a licenses is for one installation. I do know there are special licenses as you state but I have neve used any of them.
Also if you install XP you should and I strongly suggest you make sure to get the drivers for XP before you format the system. This is very simple to do by going to the manufacturers website and seeing if drivers are there for XP. If not you may find some functionality of the laptop will not work like the internet or sound.
If you can give me a make and model number I will check for you and give you the needed link to get the drivers before you do this. It would be smart to download all the drivers and put them on a cd all together. Mark the cd as XP drivers for that laptop and then you will have them for future reference.

I can not get any picture form your link. It just constantly loads.
Are you asking me or saying it looks different? The C3 series were several different laptop models therefor i could only get to the series and not the exact model. You could use the link i provided and try to find a closer match if you can.

i have FINALLY found the right model!!! Packard Bell Easynote ML61-B-003 which seems to be the mx45 series .... confusing... do you think any of these drivers could get the laptop up and running itsself? as it never seems to go onto the operating system which makes me think that the drivers are missing ?

Well that is a way off the original system I was looking for. As far as working i thought the system was working but you hadn't done the format and XP install yet?

So Vista is still on the system then?
Xp is on the system now?
I'm confused as to the problem now as the original issue was using the vista reg number to install xp.
What drivers are you referring to as Vista from what I understand was originally on your system so the drivers should all be there.
I see nothing about something not working in Vista.
Please advise as I am now lost as to what I am dealing with here.
