Hi all...plz i need your help...i need to recover windows vista on my system hp550 but i couldnt access the recovery partition. i tried to press f11 when restarting the pc but the option to press f11 isnt even there, when i press f11 noting happens at all. installed windows xp to get the system working the recovery partition is present and every thing appears to be in orded..but y i cant access the partition using f11.am i missing some files the partition is not corrupted? this should not happed..
plz help i need your assitance ASAP....

Make sure you keep tapping F11 repeatedly as soon as you turn the PC on, as you may have missed the small amount of time that F11 has to trigger the recovery process. If you miss that specific point during the boot process, F11 will have no effect.

i made sure to press f11 repeatdly several times
nothing happens....can anyone figure something out!

Did the computer come with Vista and you're trying to install XP, or what's the reason for your activity?

the computer came with vista but it got currupted with virus i had to recover the original vista...that i couldnt do...so i had to install xp to get the system going but i still couldnt access the recovery partition from f11 in the logo screen....plz advise!

If you formatted a whole drive, recovery partition is gone.

unfortunately thats wats happened i formatted the C drive....the whole thing was a missy mistake and rash dicision! the laptop came with win XP recovery cd...Stupidly i inserted the cd i started formating thinking wat i have started is win Vista recovery....as i said stupid and rash dicision...but the recovery partition is on d and it is still there...is it possibly that i deleted the files that allows the system to access the recovery partition from f11?? if thats so can i copy those files again and recover the system....

thx guys for the follow ups and replys...plz advise on this matter asap!

Your best option is to call HP and ask them for recovery DVD.
They'll send it to you either for free, or just for shipping charges.

unfortunately am now out of US and am not returning for few weeks and HP wont deliver out US....called them already BTW...so i guess i have to wait tell i get back...is there no other solution??

any way thx Broni for your assitance and thx all for your reply...

anyone else has a solution plz by all means post!

I don't think, you have any other option, short of buying Vista DVD.
