I just can't think that anything else is wrong except the connection is not happening with the drive. Does the drive work other then not showing up till you use it?

When you turn to it, it will answer. Till then it is like a shadow.Does the drive work other then not showing up till you use it?

Well at this point I see only two choices. Continue to use it as it is because it does seem to be working.
I don't know if there is any warranty on them or not but you could try contacting the manufacturer and seeing if there is a known issue with them. They might offer to replace them or fix the issue for you for free.

We contacted the suplyer and are waiting for a reply. I has been 2 weeks now

Who is the manufacturer of the drive? Did you get any paperwork with the drive? Do they have a website, both supplier and manufacturer?
I would contact the maker of the drive also as they warranty the product and can probably help also.
