Hello Broni, Thank you for your response. I followed your instructions and when I pushed the "stop" in service properties, an error(trianlge w/!) whichstated Windows SEarch service on Local computer. The service di not return an error. THis could be an internal Windows error or an internal service error. If the problem persists contanct your administrator. I did finish all of your instuction after exiting the error box. and so far I have not had the Service Protocol error come back. That is a very good sign and I am very greatful for your help. Thank you very much. David

You're welcome
As long as the error has stopped, we won't worry about details.
Indexing service is a real hog and basically it should be disabled.
