Hey guys.

On one of the Gigabyte computers in my house I am unable to access the BIOS or Boot Options during startup. I can't access Safe Mode, BIOS etc. The keyboard kicks in once the login screen appears. :)

I have tried 2 keyboards but I have the same problem.

Any advice/help is welcome. :)

Yes. Sorry, I should've mentioned that.

And the ones I tested were USB as well.

Do you have PS/2 port on that computer?

Yep. I managed to find a PS/2 keyboard and was able to log into Safe Mode.

Why doesn't the USB one work? Is it because the computer doesn't support USB functions during startup?

Thanks. :)

Why doesn't the USB one work?

Guess what? I do not know :)
It happens with some computers and I never found satisfactory solution to this problem.
Be thankful, your computer has PS/2 port, because many new computers come without it.

Ah well.

Yeah I have noticed many new computers don't have PS/2 ports.

Thanks for your help. :)

Hi guys. And HEY BRONI! Fancy seeing you here.
Robin Hood: have you run any BIOS updates lately? Sometimes you'll luck out and the BIOS manufacturer will add USB support. Check it out and let us know! =)

Hey mybuddyeric. :):)

I actually haven't run any BIOS updates so I'll give that a whirl and let you know how it goes.

Cheers. :)

Howdy Robin Hood :)

I've had this problem before on the Gigabyte boards that I use. The way I've solved it nearly every time, is to go into the BIOS and under Integrated Peripherals, change USB Keyboard Support to Enabled. Save Changes, reboot and it should be working. Let me know how you get on mate :)

Hey BlackOxide. :)

I followed your instructions and it worked as soon as I changed it to enabled! :)

Thanks mate. :)

Yep. Definitely one to remember.

I've just done it to my other Gigabyte computer and instant success there as well. :)
