Greetings from a virgin posting newbie, please be gentle

I've got 'a friend'

who has a capped monthly broadband allowance (yes I know in this day and age its a poor thing to have especially at £18 pm for 5GB and I am instigating a move away from them but I've run some data checkers and my friends figures match up with the ISP's.

But the data activity doesn't match my friends usage, in fact they can sit there and do nothing and watch their data go up by 10's of MB in minutes.

Malwarebytes and Spybot S&D show no issues but still it goes on.

now this won't be a problem when we move away to an un-capped ISP but the idea of something 'going on' needs nipping in the bud.

Any ideas?
