password doesn't work at first attempt to log into Win7

The first few times that I got an error message saying I had entered the wrong password, trying to get into Windows 7, I figured I had just hit a wrong key and reentered it and I got in. Because of this reoccuring problem, I've been very careful to enter my password properly. At the first attempt I get a wrong password message and on the second attempt, I get in. It's getting annoying. Any ideas?
