The basic text on my internet explorer is all in Italics. If it is not in bold it's italics on nearly all of my sites, including wikipedia and even this site. On Firefox the basic text is in Bold. Even Norton antivirus is affected. What's going on?

The same thing happened to me a week ago. Most likely the font that is used in those programs was corrupted or somehow got removed.

Click Start.
Search for "Font" and the one you want will be listed under "Programs"
Search for Arial.

Most likely if won't be found, or if it is, it will be corrupted. It could be another font, but most programs seem to use Arial, so we'll start there. You'll need to download a new file to fix the issue. You should be able to find copies online, here's one place I was told to get it from. Never downloaded from it so don't know. You'd need arial32.exe
http://sourceforge.n...fonts/files/the fonts/final

Another way to solve this, if you don't want to trust downloads, is to go to another computer, follow the same steps above, copy the Arial file from there.

Regardless of which way you choose, put the Arial file into your own font folder and then reboot your computer. Should fix the issue.

Thanks. It works just fine now but what caused the problem in the first place?

Can't give you that answer cause I don't know myself. There are a lot of things that can corrupt files and somethings files get deleted for whatever reason. At least this time it was an easy fix.
