Hello,

I am running Vista on a Gateway 1628 Laptop. Lately it has slowed down and begun freezing due to poor internet surfing. I want to 'wipe' it clean- just get rid of everything and start over with a clean slate. I have Microsoft Office installed and wish to retain it. So my question is in two parts:

1. How do I 'wipe' my computer clean?
2. How do I wipe it clean while retaining Microsoft Office?

Thanks,

Dave

1) The laptop may have a built-in recovery partition you can use, or you can use the CDs if you created them. Failing this any standard Vista DVD will do.
2) You don't. When you wipe the machine everything goes. You would need to reinstall Office again on the other side.
