Try putting the Media Player Classic program file mpc.exe into a new folder outside the Windows folder, then making a new shortcut for it on the desktop, as the existing shortcut will then be invalid.

Sorry that didn't work - it was just one possible fix that doesn't work for everyone, as it depends what's actually causing it. I've also known this to be caused by a wrong setting in MPC. Open MPC then go to Options >> Audio Switcher to see if it's set up right for your speaker configuration.

Ok. I just installed MPC to see what the options are.
Try disabling (untick) built-in audio switcher filter, click 'OK', restart MPC.
If still no sound, re-enable built-in audio switcher filter, click OK, restart MPC.

One final suggestion if you really get pi**ed off with MPC is to download "VLC Media Player" which is what I use - I've yet to give it an audio/video file it can't play (and no sound problems). All the codecs you are likely to need are built in so no need to install add-on codec packs which you should never do anyway 'cos they can cause all sorts of problems.
