I think the screenshot I took below may offer some insight. It says that dropbox (which initially when I installed gave me no problems) has a bad image (no idea what that means) so I uninstalled, restarted the computer, and then reinstalled dropbox on my computer but it's still showing the window below when I start up the computer. Posted Image I've run through the malware/spyware cleaning topic, no luck in helping - any suggestions?

Would reinstalling Vista fix this? or by doing that would I lose all my personal folders (music, photos, etc.)?

Thanks for replying Silasjr - Sorry for taking a while to respond, the process did take a long time to complete. I did what you suggested, it runs the scan up until the verification phase, making it to about 65%, then the computer freezes completely. Both times I ran the command it got to that point then froze up. It didn't read anything besides that, just that it was running the verification phase. No messages of corrupt files, nothing.

so essentially it didn't work - any other suggestions? I tried running the Malware removal process again, and this time it shuts down whenever I run MBAM, GMER, or OTL processes. Checkdisk runs automatically at bootup as well

You need to make a topic in the Virus Removal forum since this appears to be malware related.

Since you cant run the tools, just mention that in your topic
