Looks like we're going for the recovery as rshaffer61 said.

What brand of computer do you have, and do you know if it had a recovery partition?

Hi,

Keep us updated on the scan :) You might have a recovery partition if the laptop is new enough. For some models you would need to hold or repeatedly press the "0" or "F1" key on reboot to access it. Mind, this would erase all data from the drive and you would need to backup all your data first; You should be doing that anyway as this HD may unfortunately be toast..

What's the model of your Toshiba? We should run some hard drive diagnostics when everything's done.

Run hard drive diagnostics: http://www.tacktech....ay.cfm?ttid=287
Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD (select "Write image file to disc" option), and make the CD bootable.

NOTE. If your hard drive is made by Toshiba, unfortunately, you're out of luck, because Toshiba doesn't provide any diagnostic tool.

Thanks to Broni for the instructions
