This has been an ongoing issue for a family member, and a friend in two completely different locations with two ISP's. Here is what they have in common:

- Modem is intigrated with either a wireless router (2 in 1), or with their telephone lines (cable phone)
- One computer works just fine on the network
- Any other computer, regardless of operating system (tried XP, Vista, OSX, 7, as well as bootable ubuntu) does not work on the network

Thus far, I have verified the internal settings of the respective router's firmware, restarted everything and anything possible, to ensure it is not a redundancy error, checked that DHCP is enabled, and tried to release and refresh IP's. Thus far, the only conclusion I can come to is an ISP error. I have tried hard wiring, different cables, different network adapters, everything I can think of to no avail. I have also disabled remote differential compression on the Vista/7 machines, as well as disabling IPv6 on the off chance it was something obscure. The only thing I have not had the opportunity to try is hooking up another router directly to the "modem" to see if it is capable of retrieving it's own IP from the modem. Everything has been updated and works just fine on my personal home network, but trying to get anything to work in these locations, regardless of my hardware is proving thoroughly frusterating. Even the ISP, who has remotely been able to restart the modems has been of extremely miniscule help...which is not entirely unexpected. Any help would be tremendously appreciated, especially if this issue is resolved.

*Sidenote*
I have never been a fan of two mediocre pieces of equipment integrated to form one big piece of crap. I swear, the 2wire AT&T modems have been nothing but a disappointment, and a configuration nightmare in their own right. Other variations seem to be just as bad, manufacturer's non-withstanding...whoever thought of this idea, and then tried to cheap out on it should be slapped.
