I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and I think its Windows vista and I use google chrome.

I really dont know anything at all about computers but someone suggested this site might be the best place to get help :)

Basically the battery has gone on the laptop and as soon as the power chord comes out it switches off and Im worried it has done some damage as last night it started acting strange.

I turned it on and went onto itunes and after a few minutes the computer completely froze but I could still move the pointer it just wouldnt let me click on anything. I tried pressing ctrl alt del and nothing happend so I had to turn it off at the button. After a few mins I turned it back on again and it started doing something with a black screen and it said something about CHKDSK. After a while it loaded all up as normal and I tried going online to google the problem but again after a few minutes it froze and this time when I tried ctrl alt del I got a black screen where I could still see and move the pointer but nothing else. I left it for ages to see if anything happend but nothing did.

I decided to leave it for the night and see if it was better in the morning but again today when I logged onto the internet it froze and it went through the whole CHKDSK thing again :)

I dont know what to do please can somebody help

I am sorry about the jumbled details and Im sorry if this is in the wrong place :)

Just as an update someone said that it may help to show what the event viewer said so I have put a screen grab of what it said under the critical and error sections.
