Hello,
The other day I tried to print and it wouldn't print or do anything.
When I try all three lights start flashing, copy, fax, and scan.
It also keeps saying these things in the front window.
Open door clear cartridge jam and than press ok.
Remove and check color cartridge.
It also says paper jam.
Also when you open the door to check the print cartridges they don't move to the middle, only makes a clicking sound.
I checked all these out and couldn't find nothing.
It makes a funny noise and seems like the cartridges don't move freely back and forth.
It won't even print a demo.
Can anything be done to fix this? Are there any ideas?
Thank-You,
John God

Hi

I don't usually link to other websites for instructions but in this particular case, I going to make an exception. Click on the link below to HP's troubleshooting page for this error, & follow all the instructions on it. Let me know if this fixes the problem.

Hi Samm,

Thanks for replying.
Unfortunately I tried all the suggestions to no avail.
It still says Paper Jam and also Clear Cartridge Jam.
All 3 lights keep flashing.

I did find out,
I can fax but can't receive fax.
Can't copy,scan or print.

Thanks Again,
John

I'm not an expert on printers but it sounds like one of the gears may be broken or jammed. These are normally accessible via the back door on a lot of HP printers.

Given the second-hand price of these printers, it's really not worth spending much money on it getting it fixed. If you feel adventurous you could always try taking it apart, cleaning everything then reassembling it again but only do this as a last resort obviously!

Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it.
I believe your right. Makes a terrible sound.

My next option.

I'm thinking about getting a
HP Officejet 6500. All-IN-One.

I recently bought an all in one HP Photosmart 8400 series from a local supermarket for less than £40, & it was an absolute bargain.
The only downside is that its not wireless, but on the positive side you can refill your own ink cartridges which will save you a fortune
as they are expensive.

HP F4580 wifi printer gets good reviews here in the UK & it is currently £41.90 from amazon with free P&P.
You may get it cheaper in the US as we always pay over the odds here.

Thanks for your feedback.

I'll have to check out the HP 8400 series and the F4580.
I'm looking to stay around the $100.00 area, give or take.
I do need the copy, scan, print and fax features.
Don't really need wireless.
And to set up to two computers.
The HP Officejet 6500 I mentioned, I saw it on line at Walmart
for about $98.00.

About refilling the ink. I tried that once. Refilled at Walgreens.
The quality wasn't good and it didn't last as long.
