I don't know what's causing that error.
Lets try this:
Using Internet Explorer or Firefox, visit Kaspersky Online Scanner
1. Click Accept, when prompted to download and install the program files and database of malware definitions.
2. To optimize scanning time and produce a more sensible report for review:
The program will then begin downloading and installing and will also update the database.
Please be patient as this can take quite a long time to download.
Lets try this:

2. To optimize scanning time and produce a more sensible report for review:
- Close any open programs
- Important
Disable any script blocking protection (How to Disable your Security Programs)
The program will then begin downloading and installing and will also update the database.
Please be patient as this can take quite a long time to download.
- Once the update is complete, click on Settings.
- Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
- Spyware, adware, dialers, and other riskware
- Archives
- E-mail databases
- Click on My Computer under the green Scan bar to the left to start the scan.
- Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.
- Do NOT be alarmed by what you see in the report. Many of the finds have likely been quarantined.
- Click View report... at the bottom.
- Click the Save report... button.
- Change the Files of type dropdown box to Text file (.txt) and name the file KasReport.txt to save the file to your desktop so that you may post it in your next reply
- Kaspersky log
- Let me know how your computer is running

Next:
Please download GMER from one of the following locations and save it to your desktop:
Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed and no other actions like a scheduled antivirus scan will occur while the scan is being performed. Do not use your computer for anything else during the scan.
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries
Please copy and paste the report into your Post.
Please download GMER from one of the following locations and save it to your desktop:
- Main Mirror
This version will download a randomly named file (Recommended) - Zipped Mirror
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.
Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed and no other actions like a scheduled antivirus scan will occur while the scan is being performed. Do not use your computer for anything else during the scan.
- Double click GMER.exe.
- If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run a full scan...click on NO, then use the following settings for a more complete scan..
- In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Ensure the following are UNCHECKED ...
- Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
- Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "ark.txt"
- Save the log where you can easily find it, such as your desktop.

Hi,
I managed to run combofix from safe mode. After running this I have yet to have another occurence of any spoof pages after signing in on secure sites.
I don't know how to read this log. Do you see if it found any malware?

You're running 2 anti-virus programs
AV: avast! Antivirus
AV: Microsoft Security Essentials
Never install more than one Antivirus and Firewall! Rather than giving you extra protection, it will decrease the reliability of it seriously!
The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, your system may lock up due to both software products attempting to access the same file at the same time.
Also because more than one Antivirus and Firewall installed are not compatible with each other, it can cause system performance problems and a serious system slowdown.
1.Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2.Next, open Add/Remove Programs and remove either:
avast!
Microsoft Security Essentials
Reboot and let me know how it's running.

Ok. Thank you for that. I removed one and rebooted.
I also signed in again to sites from Mozilla and IE without a problem.

My guess would be the infection came from the E:\Autorun.inf
Good job
The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:
To be on the safe side, I would also change all my passwords.
Here's my usual all clean post
Log looks good
Only run one Anti-Virus and Firewall program.
I would suggest you read How to Prevent Malware:
Good job
The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:
- Click START run
- Now type ComboFix /Uninstall in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.
To be on the safe side, I would also change all my passwords.
Here's my usual all clean post
Log looks good

- Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:[list=1]
- From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
- Click once on the Security tab
- Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
- Click once on the Custom Level button.
- Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
- Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
- Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
- Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
- Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
- Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
- When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
- If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
- Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
- Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperative that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week
(Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.
- Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer.
Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over.
I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients.
Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.
- Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly.
This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer.
If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site
until there are no more critical updates.
- Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly.
Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
Only run one Anti-Virus and Firewall program.
I would suggest you read How to Prevent Malware:

Hello,
Thank you very much for your help.
Everything seems to be working fine. I learned a lot from this experience but I still have a lot more to learn!
I have read your instructions for further securing my computer. I would like to ask if I have windows firewall and an Antivirus program do I need to add another firewall. I know you said only one but not sure if windows firewall counts or if it is a recommended one.
Thanks again

I think I missed a new infection.
Please download HelpAsst_mebroot_fix.exe and save it to your desktop.
Close out all other open programs and windows.
Double click the file to run it and follow any prompts.
If the tool detects an mbr infection, please allow it to run mbr -f and shutdown your computer.
Upon restarting, please wait about 5 minutes, click Start>Run and type the following bolded command, then hit Enter.
helpasst -mbrt
Make sure you leave a space between helpasst and -mbrt !
When it completes, a log will open.
Please post the contents of that log.

When I click for it to run it shows me a small blue screen but then it disappears. Is it hidden while it works. There are no prompts.
I deleted and tried again. Same thing. Is this normal?
