Once you're there, you'll learn all kinds of neat things which are not published in books. You'll learn to separate the wheat from the chaff. The best technical minds will learn how to accomplish a given task in new and often more elegant ways.
In my mind experience is the best teacher, though HR departments may beg to differ on this point.
