I had a few viruses on my laptop (vista) last week, and managed to get rid of them. And everything has been running fine. Yesterday I suddenly couldn't use the internet (I use IE 7), but it had been running fine the day before. I'm connected to the internet, but it tells me it cannot display the page, for whatever website I go onto. However, I can get onto webpages using safe mode with networking. I have run several virus scans in safe mode. I also had a few antivirus programmes installed onmy computer, so I took a few of them off. However still no luck. I downloaded firefox from another computer, and got that onto my laptop. but that cannot display the page either. Tomorrow I'm going away for 6 weeks and will only have my laptop, and it's crucial I get the internet working before then. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I noticed there was another topic similar to this. But I've done most of the things that were suggested, except the system restore... because.. well, I'm a bit worried about messing up my computer I suppose.

I had Avast, AVG, Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware. Now I just have the last two listed.

I read that internet explorer not working could be caused by low memory on my laptop, and I do have very low memory. Could this be true? However I need everything on my laptop, so I can't really delete anything.. hmm...

Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post an OTListIt log in THAT forum.
