My OS is Windows 7,
I have defraged, clean temp files and cookies, flushed dns, cleared winsock catalog, ran Kaspersky anti virus, ran Malwarebytes Pro., ran Windows Defender, all of which are up to date. All found no infections. Also I ran Registry Mechanic it found 3 registry problems not enough to affect the computer; I would think. For some reason the laptop is sluggish and taking a long time to respond.
At this point I cannot think of any thing else to do.
Any ideas. Could I have missed something?

Registry cleaners do more harm then good.

Try disabling all non microsoft services from startup to eliminate a 3rd party app as the culprit. To do this, type msconfig from the command line, make sure Hide all Microsoft services is checked, uncheck everything and reboot.
