I am at the black screen in Puppy Linux.
Loads that were done:
loading drivers needed to access disk drives
searching for Puppy files in computer disk drives
loading the "lupu_528.sfs" main file... copying to ram
setting up the layered filesystem

the last thing it tried to do and got stuck:
performing a "switch_root" to the layered filesystem... Kernel panic - not synching: Attempted to kill init!

It does not go any further. Any suggestions?
About to say forget the pictures and lets just fix this thing!

Someone forwarded this to me to assist me in recovering a WD external with corrupted bios.

Is there a way to do this using Snow Leopard?

Thanks!

Dear Sir I have a machine which is running windows 7 64 bit ultimate edition. It has two partitions with the second partition acting as the backup. Both are located on the same physical drive of 1 TB Seagate. The machine has an asus p8z68v motherboard and an intel i-5 2500k processor.I accidentally ran the wipe option of CCleaner for the second partition with the option to wipe all. Though I terminated the operation within a few seconds now the partition is being reflected as RAW in the windows disk management. When I try to access it windows prompts me to format the partition. I tried ubuntu but it does not detect the drive and is only showing the active partition C and approx 100 mb of a partition with the system files. The machine is booting fine and the operating system and programs are all fine.I ran partition minitool to recover partition and it is showing the files to be intact and recovering the data albeit with the original names changed and the data is in excess of 150 GB. Is there some way I can get the partition to be active without losing the Data stored on it? I am sanguine of an early response.

Hi, I'm pretty new to all of this so please be patient with my ignorance in these matters. I recently burned puppy linux on a cd following the instructions mentioned. Once I booted my C and the CD ran through it keeps coming up with ' X failed to start@ and requires me to type in 'xorgwizard' and takes me to puppy video wizard and it keeps going through this endless cycle of 'x failed to start' and not once has puppy actually started. I was hoping you could help me out and point me in the right direction. Thanks! AJ

I'm confused because of this:

Once I booted my C and the CD ran through

It sounds like you are booting to the hard drive and not the cdrom.
You should not be in windows at all when running a linux live cd as it runs from memory before any windows files are started.

I've installed Linux on a 20 gig partition but it really depends on how much room you want. 30 gigs on a minimum to 50 gigs should be fine.

I give up. I don't understand these directions at all and I don't know how to keep from backing up infected files. Are the files that are backed up on Carbonite infected or is it okay to use them after factory reset? I watched the video for the factory reset and it says I need a recovery CD. I really am lost and not sure where to go from here.

What exactly are you trying to backup?
The only files you should be backing up is data. You can't backup a program as it will need to be installed again to work correctly.
