So far so good, we BBQ'd yesterday but I did get a little bit of play time with the two fast sticks in there. So as long as this is working alright should I just get the exact same sticks to replace the old ones.

Yep it looks like the problem were the older slower memory modules.
Replacing them with the same as the new ones will hopefully resolve everything.

what is confusing to me, is that I have ran all four of those sticks for over a year with no complications.

It is probably just a coincidence that it started now. Memory like any other electronic part can fail. That being said it is always the best ideal to having matching sets of memory. Yours were different in lots of way and replacing it will help your system also run faster if they are the same type.
That doesn't mean the memory is bad but it just doesn't want to play together anymore.
