vista wireless issue

I have 2 laptops running vista home basic
both worked till yesterday and no one has messed with the router settings and neither will connect beyoned local access which will not see the net but will see the router
trying ro acquire a new ip addy fails and they both want me to connect with cable but this defeats the purpose, any ideas?
