It seems like you have all your bases covered though. I would just have the monitor goto sleep and tell the PC to never sleep. Seems like more of a headache then its worth at this point.

I tried that. I disabled everything that had to do with going to sleep, hibernate, etc. But the computer would still go into a sleep state if left unattended for any period of time.

So as of now, my remedy is to be sure to manually put it to sleep. And since I've been doing this it hasn't had any problems waking up....LOL

Thanks again for all the GREAT support. - Dano

That's just so strange. Normally, I would say either its a BIOS issue or something 3rd party or an OEM power manager like IBM's Think Vantage making the power settings wacky but its a complete rebuild and a clean OS.

I would say maybe down the road try to swap the PSU and case, but that's up to you.

If you have success with that, please report back as I would be very interested to see what the issue was.

Yeah, although I think the PSU is a long shot I'm going to give it a shot. I'll post the results as soon as I get another PS to swap out. - Dano

Here's the latest update.

I replaced my Seasonic PSU today with a brand new Enermax. The original problem is still alive and well...LOL.

So far I've replaced about everything I can and tried fresh installs of both windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Ultimate. BOTH OS's do the same thing. The following is a list of my old setup and new setup, both have the same wake up issue.

Old setup:
Asus A8N23-SLI Deluxe mobo
AMD x2 3800+ processor
2GB Crucial memory (2x512)
IBM HDD (x2) and a Seagate (x1)
Samsung DVD drive - writable with Lightscribe
Onboard sound
GeForce 8500GT graphics card
Seagate 600 watt PSU

New Setup:
Asus M4A875-m mobo
AMD II x4 2.6 GB processor
4 GB Corsair XMS2 PC6400 memory (2x2048) or
2 GB G.Skill PC6400 memory (2x1024)
Same HDD's - used all three with a clean install of OS
Same DVD drive
Onboard sound - VIA VT1708S
onboard graphics - ATI Radeon HD4200
Enermax Liberty 620 watt PSU

Again, If I manually put the computer to Sleep or Hibernate it wakes with the touch of the mouse or keyboard. If I allow it to sleep / hibernate on it's own, there a 50/50 chance that it wont wake. Although the monitor wakes and the mouse is active nothing else works, I have to hit reset and reboot the system.

I've also tried a variety of different mouse and keyboard combinations from wireless, to USB, to wired. Same symptoms.

Sooooo, if anyone has any more feedback don't be shy, toss your name in the hat. There are several things I've tried so if you post a possible solution and I reply "Tried it", please don't be offended. At this point I've tried so many things I can't remeber them all.

I've become OK with it the way it is, I just have to remember to manually put it to sleep. But curiosity has me to where I just wanna know...LOL

Thanks,
Dany

Just an odd question, are you using a speaker setup with an unshielded sub? Also, try moving your desk/setup around a bit. I know it sounds weird, but weird problems sometimes have weird solutions.

No, the speakers I'm using are the same one's I've been using now for about 15 years and the sub is plenty far from everything. As far trying different locations for the computer, it's been all over the desk as I was trying different solutions, and I have a HUGE corner desk. This one really has me baffled. I've been a computer hobby builder now for about 20 years and have never been stumped this bad. I even used to build custom systems and sold them on eBay all over the world (back when it was profitable). I can usually determine pretty quickly weather it's a software or hardware issue. I really don't think it's a hardware issue, I think it has to do with Windows 7 somehow. Using the same computer with Windows Vista the problem goes away. - Dano

Hi there....
Just wanted to mention you are not alone!
I have struggled with this problem for years.... :-)
Reading your post made me start all over again.....
I don't have many thinks too add at the moment, all solutions i found didn't work so far.

Manual sleep let my PC wake up okay, but when in sleep mode it will sometimes wake up itself to get some data (TV-guide updates for MCE for instance, or record a TV program etc.)
But it returns to hibernation mode after that (and hangs when it wakes up itself the second time). I have to reset , it resumes (slowly) and i can login again. So in the morning the PC is mostly running but no HD-activity, no display and fan's on 100% waiting for me to reset..

Did you come closer to a solution in the time after you last post?
